Knock it off Guess

I suppose Guess did not see this one coming. Gucci was awarded over $4 million dollars due to the profit Guess made from unauthorized trademarks from their company. The court also granted Gucci a permanent injunction against Guess’ use of three of the four challenged designs. Unfortunately, the payout was only a fraction of the amount Italian fashion asked for ($120 million). They have apparently  “diluted its brand” by imitating four specific Gucci designs: the green and red stripe; the interlocking “G” pattern; the square “G” and the brand name’s delicate script font. Despite the fact this lawsuit started 3 years, I am totally surprised they waited this long to make initiative action beforehand!

Substitution of goods can be economically efficient, but now when a company seeks to use the exact monogram and design scheme continuously is an insult. The consumers knew from jump street where the inspiration derived from. Buyers from various department stores selecting these items should have known better. I wonder how long it’s going to take Polo file suit again U.S.P.A. (wait their tag says, “not affiliated with Polo #majorsideEYE)

Dreya

A new style for women unlike any other. Y-3’s Freya, a sneaker-sandal cocktail explosion resulting in a futuristic gladiator look! Its silhouette is inspired from the original men’s sneaker. Honestly, I see this sandal as being uni-sex. Maybe its just me, but it sure does seem like everything sexy is named “Draya” (from basketball wives) or this case, “Dreya”

Karl Lagerfeld as “God” in Snoop Dogg video

Karl Lagerfeld is most definitely a fashion god, but in his new music video, rapper Snoop Dogg gave the Chaneldesigner a promotion to God of All Things. Both men are major pop culture geniuses, and now they’ve joined forces to pay tribute to the glittering patch of France known as Saint Tropez.

The video opens with Lagerfeld, dressed in immaculate whites, greeting the French singer Jean-Roch in the poofy white clouds of heaven. When Jean-Roch wonders whether they’re in paradise, the Kaiser rebuffs him: “You’ve never realized Saint Tropez is paradise?” The pair looks down upon the earthly world, where Snoop Dogg is ready and waiting to start rapping about Saint Tropez.

The lyrics are goofy (“No matter where I go, no matter where I stay / A piece of my heart will always be in St. Tropez”) and Jean-Roch looks like a little puppy next to Snoop Dogg. The singer nuzzles against the rapper, seemingly giddy to be in such cool company.

The video is a fairly convincing argument for Lagerfeld’s claim that Saint Tropez is paradise: the weather is beautiful, the people are pretty, and there are plenty of pantsless gals to cheer on your bocce ball game.

Givenchy – Resort Collection 2013 (preview)

Riccardo Tisci and Givenchy will be advancing its menswear collection for Resort 2013. Taking pointers from the fall runway collection, the preview of the Resort 2013 range draws its inspiration from similar military tenants and elements. Although this is incredibly noticeable to be Tisci’s work, the Resort 2013 line looks like something which has been designed from the previous collections. I would honestly think this collection is a slight remix of “watch the throne” or whatnot. The collection is not bad if its suppose to define the Givenchy menswear, so be it. Based on the arrangement, I was expecting a different direction.

Titanium

I don’t post music on my blog, but this song is clearly an exception. I tend to use my blog to showcase the very two things which allows me to express myself as person. Regardless what people have to say about your aesthetics or well-being should not matter. As long as you are doing something positive, you should always remain. Ironically, my martial arts name “Iron Will”, reflects the lyrics to this track.

Sex, Rock&Roll, and Fashion

Tom Cruise landed on the latest cover for “W Magazine” promoting his upcoming film, Rock of Ages. I have seen the trailer to this movie and was impressed. For a moment, I had no idea that was him in the trailer. Just seeing the excitement and energy would be enough reason for me to see the movie. I certainly hope and pray we are going to be able to see some rock star fashion garments from John Varvatos or Mugler for some edginess..

el la training mode

One of the things I love to do is martial arts training! not only do I have the chance to workout and spar with some of my colleagues in the art, but it does provide a great source of cardio! Believe it or not, martial arts provides a great cardio workout as other sports. You are not only using your hands and feet. Your entire body is in motion. I must admit I have slacked off within the past month or two.

Whenever I am not training, it shows! My physique is off with their my wind (this is not a good image). After my previous tournament, I had to sit out due to a foot injury from my first fight. This injury was the prime reason, I was not able to train. Today after work, My bro Anthony asked me to stopped by this martial arts/MMA school in southern Indiana. Finding a location to train is no longer an issue.

It was great being able to train back in the dojo. The facility was suited for every martial artist wants and needs. From core training to sparring to cross training (punching bags), there was no gaps. Once again, I was a kid in the candy store again. My training (without sparring) consist of a few rounds for footwork, shoot an array of basic kicking drills (i.e. roundhouse, sidekick), punching combinations, and the heavy bag.

My primary goal is lose some weight!! The top I wore was half of a sauna suit. The nylon material is designed to release water weight. Well its day 2 for the suit! Ready to get back into my favorite pair of jeans #kanyeshrug

Outnumbered

its hard out here in these streets. Due to this harsh economy, people are trying to get what they can get by any means necessary. Some people try methods of taking advantage of vulnerable individuals by outnumbering them. Is this an unfair situation? Hell yea!! However it is possible to defend yourself against numerous individuals. The main key I would advise anyone in this situation (any street fight situation), to keep it simple by striking vital targets areas (i.e. eye jabs, groin strikes, kicks below the waistline) and get out as soon as possible. The longer you stay in a fight, the more likely you will get hurt.

This video I have found via youtube, has provide an ounce of how to handle a situation as such. There were some boring talking but I think this would be a great way to provide a foundation.

Jean Franette

Jean Franette is one of the pioneers of the forms division in the sport karate world! Although the techniques are not as advance as for the tricks today, but there is no doubt these guys had the greatest techniques. The beauty of his Kara is how he synchronized the choreography along with the music. Very dynamic and precise. Homage!
